The carbon fibre mat is high quality 2 k twill. These fibers are used to reinforce epoxy resins. We use epoxy resins due to their higher strength over standard catalyst resins.

We call these reinforced materials composites because they have more than one component. Carbon fiber reinforced composites are very strong for their weight. They're often stronger than steel, but a lot lighter.

How are Racecon carbon components manufactured ?

All components are made by several layers of carbon fibre texture impregnated with epoxy resins. The layers are placed inside the mould. Then, the mould is put in the into a vacuum-packed sack, and set in oven to cure.

Method of manufacture Autoclave

Carbon fiber that is pre-impregnated (i.e. pre-preg) with epoxy resin is laid into the mold and then covered with releasing films and agents. The entire piece is then bagged and vacuumed clean of air. From there the piece is inserted into an autoclave, which is, basically, a large oven. The parts are heated to cure the carbon fiber and then the part is finished. Dry carbon parts can be produced with a much lower weight than wet lay-up parts since there is much less resin used Has a higher strength. We have moulds for use with autoclave for 90% of our products.
